Confronting the Sky

I believe some of you have come across the feeling of existential dread at least once in your life. Have you ever wondered what exactly it is that produces these feelings of dread in your life ? I have considered this for a while and all I have to say is : Don’t ever look up to the sky.

For you, your predicament, you enmeshed in all your limitations never being able to break free, becomes blaringly clear. Carl Jung once said that if you look long enough into the void, you run the risk of the void looking at back at you. Put in other words : the void looks at itself through you and thus realizes its magnificence. Might I apply this to the sky my beloved reader ? How can the idea of you looking at yourself through the eyes of the sky be anything less than bewildering ? Its a fortune that a large majority of us refuse to be in communion with our skies for extended periods of time. The constant reminder of the atomic significance of our lives which includes our achievements , our relationships and the knowledge we have obtained would tear us apart. The skies, though a seat for enormous beauty and brilliance also hold within them the realization that everything that you have ever worked hard for could slide into obscurity in a matter of a few years. You will be wiped out as if you had never existed.

Now this begs the question : Even now , do you exist ? Sure you may boast an exceptional physique and a far reaching intelligence, or maybe even a successful career or a beautiful intimate relationship with someone, however put before the sky does it truly amount to anything ? Does your well being truly mean anything ? Does the well-being of humanity as a whole truly mean anything ? Is well-being worth pursuing ?

At this point I would like to bring to your attention how deeply and terribly divorced the logical processes taking place inside your head is from the remainder of your body. This can be demonstrated by presenting the above question to the remainder of your body. You may wonder how that is even possible. Your organs cant communicate with you and especially in English. Well that is absolutely unheard of. However your body does communicate with you, in its own language. And that’s pain. This very moment if you were to as much as hold your breath for longer than a few minutes, your lungs would burst in assertion of their well-being. Maybe its the body that you have to look to for existential questions.

Maybe the panacea we have always been looking for is the harmony between the logical and physical.
